The picture above shows Buster Keaton and his two sons, James and Robert. James and Robert were born out of Keaton's first marriage with Natalie Talmadge. She become paranoid in their relationship, and their marriage dispersed and ended in just 12 years. After the divorce finalized, Keaton was drained of his fortune and lost all contact with his two sons, until the eldest turned 18. He became an alcoholic, and served a brief time period in a mental hospital. Due to his time in vaudeville, he was able to escape a straight jacket he had been placed in. He later spent $300,000 to build a 100,000 sq. ft. mansion in Beverly Hills, which can be seen in his movie "Parlor, Bedroom, and Bath". Once he renounced ownership, the new owner found cans of "lost" Keaton films, which were later transferred into safe hands. in 1933, he married his nurse, Mae Scriven. Neither of them truly could remember the marriage, and it was said that Scriven herself didn't know Keaton's first name until after their union. They divorced three years later, and Keaton lost a great deal of money again. In 1940, Keaton married the love of his life, Eleanor Norris. Despite her being 23 years younger than himself, Keaton loved her fiercely and accredited her with saving his life from his alcoholism and salvaging his career.
Keaton died on February 1st, 1966 from lung cancer. He was diagnosed in early January, and didn't realize the deadliness of the disease, which he thought was bronchitis. Even the day before his death, Keaton was playing cards with his friends at his house.
